Sparta, TN – May 4, 2017 – Interact member Parker Ferrell, son of Michele Ferrell, presented to Rotary Club of Sparta a program on the Interact student club at the White County High School (WCHS).
Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Interact is an acronym for International Action and is part of Rotary International.
Parker described the membership process and some of the projects in which Interact participated during the school year. Each member performs at least 80 hours of community service during the school year.
Ms. Ferrell, Interact liaison, said, “It is important to have high school kids involved with Interact and the Rotary Club of Sparta because it teaches them leadership skills needed in the community.”
Interact members connect with leaders in the community and around the world to make a difference in the member’s school and community. The Rotary Club of Sparta sponsors the WCHS Interact club.
The Rotary Club of Sparta, chartered in 1935, is composed of business and community leaders who live by the motto of “Service Above Self”. Rotary meets every Thursday at noon in the Senior Citizen Center.

This year’s memorial tournament honors the late Dr. Jeff Ross and Edd Rogers. If an individual or business wishes to sponsor the golf tournament, contact John Hunter at Hunter Funeral Home or any Rotarian. There will be refreshments and water for all golfers, plus door prizes, and rewards for the winning teams. Each year, Edd Rogers Chevrolet sponsors a hole in one for a selected hole.
